Just as we celebrate the Harvest Festival(s), Pan-India!!Wishes for Lohri,Sakranti,Pongal,Bihu and many more...

Let us go over the benefits of some of the “GIFTS OF WINTER” that we gorge on.

We all look forward to this celebration, because of these delicious goodies, Don’t We?

Til or Sesame-that we consume as Til Patti, Laddu or use in cooking in SHISHIR RITU. Being warm and lubricant, it is good for hair and skin. Useful for body ache, joint pain, useful l for eye disorders and even for urinary tract. Also, favorable effect on menstrual cycle.

Jaggery or Gur as sweetener and as accompaniment, stuffing in paranthas and even cook with rice. It is s storehouse of goodness from being a delicious aid for appetite and digestion; packed with micronutrients, energy boosters and immunity enhancing properties. Not forget the benefits on urinary tract and menstruation

Dates-Sweetener, added to halwas and other sweet preparations even baking, consumed as snack. From boosting energy to helping with Low BP and anemia, From the juvenile issue of Bed wetting to the Senile complaint of Prostate, Dates are a Go-To Cure. Contrary to popular belief, one can use Dates through the year-with little tweaks in processing and combination.

Carrots-the highlight is Gajar pak(Halwa) followed by Gajar Murabba and Barfi. Lot of people love Gajar- Matar ki Sabzi in Winters. Good for Eyesight and complexion no doubt ,but works well in migraines, So also in patients with angina, Piles and ulcers as it is Sweet-Bitter, light and little warming for body.

Peanuts-the most loved snack of the season, additive to breakfast preparations, sweets and even many vegetable recipes. These are actually legumes and not nuts. As they provide warmth and lubrication, grant your body anti-oxidant effect and are beneficial for skin and hair; they are no doubt a good winter snack. But the trouble is when we snack too much. Then we need to be prepared for excessive dryness, heaviness and can make you sluggish. Peanuts are also known to trigger allergies easily. So watch out on the quantity of Gud -Mungphali you eat.

Sonth or Shunthi or Dry Ginger: carminative, analgesic, blood purifier, uterine tonic, anti-inflammatory, heart stimulator, good for fever and cough. It is best medicine for digestion of Ama or intermediate metabolite.it is considered to be a winder drug in Ayurveda and surely a useful spice in Indian Kitchens. Add it for that punch and aroma to the cuisine.

Looking at the list above ,I feel that all of the above can be combined to create a Winter special recipe ass the texture, taste and properties surely blend well.
